Interviewer: How have you advocated for the rights of people with asthma?
Mother: I worked with our legislature, so now, if you are diagnosed with asthma, you will get information and you have time to speak to your doctors. Because it's your right to get the information and the knowledge that you need. It's not good to just get medication and go home and say "Gee, what do I do now?" It's your right. But you have to understand, if your legislatures are not aware of what's needed, they can't help you. You need to get out there, you need to go to the hearings, and you need to let them know what's going on with asthma, and how you as an individual can advocate. If there's a parent that can't, then you need to go out, hear what they have to say and take it to your legislature, because they do want to hear what's going on.
